East View Patriots Varsity Falls In Back-And-Forth Affair Against Cedar Creek

East View Patriots Varsity and Cedar Creek passed the lead back-and-forth on Friday, but eventually Cedar Creek prevailed 9-5. The game was tied at five with Cedar Creek batting in the bottom of the fifth when Cameron Nowell uncorked a wild pitch, scoring one run.

East View Patriots Varsity lost despite out-hitting Cedar Creek eight to six.

East View Patriots Varsity captured the lead in the first inning. Ronnie Bailey singled on a 2-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run. After East View Patriots Varsity scored two runs in the top of the third, Cedar Creek answered with two of their own. East View Patriots Varsity scored when Cameron Nowell singled off of Phillip Figueroa, driving in one run and Bailey hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. Cedar Creek then answered when Hector Zertuche tripled off of Aaron Parks, driving in two runs.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Cedar Creek tied things up at five. Parks walked Garrett Bodine with the bases loaded to drive in a run.

Figueroa earned the win for Cedar Creek. He went seven innings, allowing five runs, eight hits, striking out five, and walking one.

Bailey and Jonathan Ortegon each drove in two runs to lead East View Patriots Varsity.

Bodine went 2-for-2 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.
